The Chicken is a classic roadhouse joint just south of the Highway 5 Bypass in what was once Orilla, Iowa (now part of West Des Moines).  Serving the best fried chicken in the Des Moines metro along with Nashville Hot boneless chicken, crispy chicken sandwiches, hot fresh pizza, and many other options.   When the weather's nice, join us on the best patio in town - perfect for grabbing lunch while biking the Great Western Trail, enjoying a pour from our extensive craft beer selection, or winding down your night with a sunset over the countryside.
